  • 53 per cent of users are female and 47 per cent are male
  • Age 25 to 34, at 29.7 per cent, is the most common age demographic
  • 12 billion mobile active users, a 29 per cent increase year on year
  • 5 million active Facebook advertisers
  • 6% of all users’ digital time is spent on Facebook each day
  • 49 per cent user interaction with the brand is positive, 20 per cent is negative
  • On Thursdays and Fridays, engagement is 18 per cent higher
  • Highest traffic occurs mid-week between 1 and 3 pm
  • 75 per cent percent of the engagement on a post happens in the first 5 hours

TWITTER

  • 284 million monthly active users
  • 80 per cent of Twitter’s active users are on mobile
  • The projected number of Twitter users by 2018 is 400 million
  • 55 per cent user interaction with brands is positive, 20 per cent is negative
  • 74 per cent of those who follow SMBs follow to get updates on future products
  • 47 per cent who follow brands are more likely to visit the company’s website
  • YouTube is the most followed brand on Twitter, with 40 million followers
  • 37 per cent of UK users trust a retailer more if they have social presence
  • 69 per cent of mums log into Twitter at least once a day
  • 52 per cent of UK users turn to Twitter for information and inspiration about food and restaurants

INSTAGRAM

  • 100 million monthly active users
  • 49 per cent of users are female and 51 per cent are male
  • Age 16 and 24, at 41 per cent, is the most common age demographic
  • 23 per cent of teens consider Instagram to be their favourite social network
  • Instagram’s mobile app user growth from December 2013 to May 2014 increased by 25 per cent
  • Adidas Football is the brand with the highest post engagement rate (12.16%) followed by Nike Football (9.81%) and Xbox (9.75%)
  • Nike is the most followed retailer on Instagram with 7.6 million followers
  • 3 per cent interaction-per-follower for brands
  • 38 per cent increased in Likes for photos with faces in them
  • 32 per cent increased in comments for photos with faces in them

LINKEDIN

  • 255 million monthly active users
  • 15 million users in the UK
  • 44 per cent are female and 56 per cent are male
  • 41 per cent of LinkedIn visits occur via mobile
  • It reaches a 200 countries and territories geographically
  • In the third quarter of 2014, mobile accounted for 47 percent of unique visiting members to LinkedIn
  • 6 out of every 10 LinkedIn users are interested in industry insights
  • Highest traffic occurs morning and midday, Monday to Friday
  • A single status update reaches 20 per cent of your audience and 20 posts per month will reach 60 per cent of your audience
  • There are over 39 million students and recent college graduates on LinkedIn

  • 250 million monthly active users
  • 80 per cent of users are female and 20 per cent are male
  • 8 per cent of European users have a Pinterest account
  • 94 per cent of all Pinterest activity is from women
  • 23 per cent use it at least once a day
  • 49 per cent use Pinterest instead of browsing through catalogues
  • Etsy is the most re-pinned domain on Pinterest
  • Blogs are the most popular destination of Pinterest users clicking through
  • 27 per cent of active users follow a brand
  • 52 per cent of daily users consult it for purchasing guidance while in a store
